Somewhere in our future, there is a little person we haven’t met yet. We don’t know what their laugh will sound like, whose eyes they’ll have, or what their tiny hands will feel like wrapped around our fingers. But we already know one thing for certain. They are loved. So deeply, so completely, and so unconditionally, before they’ve even taken their first breath.

Hi, everyone! We’re Mariah and Shatorria Cruz, two wives, two hopeful future mamas, and two women who share one beautiful dream: bringing our baby, lovingly known as Baby MJ, into this world. Our love story brought us together, but our dream of becoming mothers is giving us something even greater to look forward to. We dream about the little things that so many people might take for granted. The first ultrasound. Hearing that tiny heartbeat. Feeling our baby kick. Decorating a nursery. Sleepless nights, bedtime stories, first steps, first words, and hearing someone call us ‘Mama’ for the very first time. We dream about Christmas mornings, birthday parties, family vacations, scraped knees, refrigerator artwork, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with raising a child. We dream about watching our baby grow into someone who knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that they were wanted, prayed for, fought for, and loved long before they existed. And more than anything, we dream about the day we finally get to hold the little person who will make our family feel complete.

💛 Our Journey to Baby MJ

For many couples, starting a family can happen naturally. For us, the road to parenthood looks a little different. As a same-sex couple, our journey requires fertility treatments, medical appointments, careful planning, and the incredible science of IVF. It also comes with a financial burden that can feel overwhelming. Between fertility medications, medical procedures, testing, embryo creation, and the eventual embryo transfer, the costs add up quickly. And unfortunately, the ability to become parents often comes with a price tag that love alone cannot cover. But we refuse to believe that something as beautiful as bringing a child into a loving home should remain out of reach simply because of the financial obstacles standing in our way. That’s why we created Operation Baby MJ. This isn’t just a fundraiser. It’s our hope. It’s our future. It’s the beginning of a lifetime of bedtime kisses, tiny footsteps, belly laughs, and memories we haven’t had the chance to make yet.

We’ll tell you about two women who loved each other so much that they wanted to share that love with you. We’ll tell you about the people who believed in us, the strangers who became part of our village, and every single person who helped make your life possible.
