Turns Out Storks Accept Donations

As many of you know, we’ve been trying to make a baby for a while now. Over eighteen months to be exact. Unfortunately, it turns out that making a baby can be both extremely complicated and wildly expensive, especially when you need a team of medical professionals to help with the knocking-up part.

If you don’t know us, cause you’re a billionaire (Taylor Swift, is that you?) who spends their time perusing the profiles of us mere mortals for your next tax write-off, hello! Here is a bit of a back story:

We are Teisha and Marianne. Both from small towns, now living in the city, we met at a mutual friend's wedding five years ago (shout out Jaime! <3). We found each other a little later in life, after years of wondering if we'd ever find the person we were meant to share our lives with. We bonded over reality TV, ghost hunting and white claws; and that bond soon turned into a deep love for each other. Finding each other felt like coming home. For the first time, we could picture the future we'd always hoped for but had almost stopped believing was possible. We quickly merged our belongings, friend groups, and families, and were there for each other through all of life's changes: from grief and loss to graduations and celebrations.

We love each other to the moon and back, and more than anything, we dream of growing the little home we've built together. We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by close-knit family and friends who truly feel like family. We really have the best village possible to welcome a little cutie into, to complete the future we have been wishing and hoping for.

When we first started our fertility journey, we were so full of hope. We found ourselves cooing over tiny clothes, talking about all the adventures we'd have with a little one tagging along, and dreaming about names, personality traits (will they love or hate camping??), planning family traditions, and the kind of moms we hoped we'd become. We both feel strongly about raising children who are fiercely kind, strong leaders, thoughtful, cool AF, environmentally conscious, and who bring a little more light into a world that can sometimes feel dark. Despite our excitement and manifestation attempts, my geriatric womb had other plans!

After countless appointments with doctors, nurses, a psychologist and a genetic specialist; bloodwork fourty million times; painful procedures to check my uterus and fallopian tubes; a surgery to ensure I could grow a bebe in my fibroid-invaded uterus; choosing a sperm donor from the most confusing websites known to womankind; a psychic reassuring me that I would be pregnant with twin boys in no time (UMMM wut); and six failed IUI attempts, we realized this was going to be a bit of a bitch.

As spiritual people, we both feel like we already know the soul of our baby. It feels as though they're just out of reach. As much as we long for them to be here, something is happening with my body that has kept us from bringing the final piece of our family earthside. Our doctor has now recommended that we pursue next steps.

Through all of it, we’ve kept going because we want, more than anything, to become moms and build a family together. So far, we’ve covered the costs of treatment ourselves. But the next step in our fertility journey is significantly more expensive, and we’ve reached the point where continuing to try means asking for some help. Which is vulnerable. And awkward. And not particularly fun. But having a baby would be extremely fun, so here we are.

If you’re able to donate, we would be incredibly grateful. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page helps more than you might think. And if all you can offer is good vibes, prayers, witchcraft, aggressively crossed fingers, or yelling “GET PREGNANT” in our general direction, we will happily take those too.

We know times are tough, and we appreciate you simply taking the time to read our story. Thank you for helping us to keep trying, keep hoping, and hopefully (eventually) become moms.
