Samantha & Thomas's Ivf Journey

Organised by Samantha Prater · September 17, 2026

My name is Samantha Prater, and I am 29 years old. I live in Live Oak, FL, with my husband, Thomas Fortescue Jr., and our household currently consists of three. For the past eight years, we have been on a heartfelt journey to become parents. Each year has brought its own set of hopes and challenges, and I often reflect on how much we have invested—emotionally and financially—in our dream of starting a family.

The biggest challenge I face is accepting the reality that, without financial help, we may never have the chance to be birth parents. IVF is an expensive and daunting process, and while we have tried to navigate this path on our own, the overwhelming costs have made it nearly impossible. It weighs heavily on my heart knowing that there are so many couples like us who long for the chance to hold their child in their arms, but the financial barriers stand tall in front of us.

I remember the first time Thomas and I discussed starting a family. We were filled with excitement and dreams of what our lives would look like. Fast forward to today, and those dreams feel so distant. I hold onto hope, but with each passing year, the challenges grow. The thought of not being able to become parents weighs on me every single day. I want nothing more than to experience the joy of parenthood—the laughter, the love, and the little moments that make life so special.

This grant would mean the world to us. It represents a chance—a lifeline—to give us the opportunity to become parents at least once in our lives. It embodies hope and the possibility of a future filled with the love of a child. With the funds, we would be able to afford the treatments, services, and medications necessary for IVF, bringing us one step closer to realizing our dreams.

Every time I think about the possibility of bringing a child into our lives, my heart swells with emotion. I envision the laughter in our home, the stories I would read to our little one, and the memories we would create as a family. I know that with the right support, we could finally make this dream a reality.

Thank you for considering my story and for the opportunity to share our journey. Your support could be the key that unlocks the door to our future as parents, and for that, I will be forever grateful.
