Ruth & William's IVF Journey
Organised by Ruth Calvo · September 16, 2026

Being a mom is something my heart has longed for more than I can put into words. I’ve always been the auntie the one who loves on everyone else’s babies, celebrates their milestones, spoils them with love, and happily gives them back to their parents. But deep down, my heart has always desired a baby of my own.
For my husband and me, starting a family also comes with an added challenge because we are both carriers for SMA. Because of this, IVF with PGT-M is crucial for us because it gives us the opportunity to test our embryos for SMA before pregnancy and hopefully reduce the chance of having a baby affected by this condition.
This journey isn’t simply about wanting a baby it’s about a dream I have carried in my heart for years. I want to experience pregnancy, hold my baby for the first time, hear them call me Mommy, and love and nurture them with everything I have. I’ve spent so much of my life being “Auntie,” and while I cherish that role with all my heart, there is a part of me that has always prayed to become a mom.
I know this journey may not be easy, and IVF can be overwhelming emotionally and financially, but becoming a mother is something I deeply desire. I’m holding onto faith, trusting God through every step, and praying that one day I’ll be able to hold the little blessing I’ve prayed for.
