Our Family-Building Journey

Organised by Hayley Maxwell · September 5, 2026

My name is Hayley Maxwell, and I am 36 years old. I live in Cape Town, Western Cape, with my husband, Bradwin. For over ten years, we have been on an emotional and challenging journey to conceive. During this time, we have only experienced pregnancy once, and that was a brief moment of hope that ended in heartbreak when I miscarried at eight weeks. The loss was devastating, and it broke a part of me that I fear may never heal.

I often find myself grappling with feelings of inadequacy and failure, as my body seems to have let me down in what should be a natural process. The disappointment of not being able to conceive month after month weighs heavily on my heart. It feels like a constant reminder that time is slipping away, especially as I consider my age and the ticking of my biological clock.

Financial constraints have added another layer of difficulty to our journey, making it challenging to access the private healthcare and fertility treatments that we desperately need. Our dream of becoming parents feels further away than ever, and I often wonder if we will ever get to experience the joy of parenthood.

This grant represents a glimmer of hope for Bradwin and me. It would provide us with the financial support necessary to pursue a path of Medication/Monitoring Only. With this help, we could cover the costs of gynecology consultations, hormone testing, and assessments of egg and sperm quality. Having the ability to access these essential services would make our journey so much more manageable and give us the answers we need.

If we are faced with the possibility that we may be infertile, this grant could help us explore our options, whether that means considering egg donation or adoption. The opportunity to make informed decisions about our future is invaluable.

Ultimately, this grant would mean the world to us. It would bring us one step closer to fulfilling our dream of becoming a family and help alleviate some of the emotional and financial burdens we have carried for so long. I long to experience the joy of pregnancy and share the incredible journey of parenthood with Bradwin. With the support of this grant, I believe we can take meaningful steps toward achieving that dream. Thank you for considering our story.

How we'll use the funds: The grant would cover all gynecology consultants and testing of hormones, egg quality and sperm quality and mobility. It would cover all medical cost to help us conceive. And also all medication and supplements and doctor consultations.we have tried for over 10 years and only conceived once but miscarried at 8 weeks. This grant would be help us Achieve parenthood in every way medically possible.

What this would mean to us? As I draw closer to 40 I am feeling as if I will never get to hold and care for my own child.this is my dream to become a mom.we would feel so blessed
