Mikayla And Coleman’s Fertility Journey

Organised by Shelby Dawes · January 17, 2023

My name is Shelby, and My Sister Mikayla and My Brother In Law Coleman have always dreamed of having their own family. They have always been the best aunt and uncle pair to all the kids in their lives, blood or not they love each child as their own. They are the best god parents to my daughter and seriously all around the best two people I know. If anyone knows them they know they truly deserve parenthood. Here is a little bit about their fertility journey thus far.

Many of you have been following along with Mik and Coleman’s journey to start a family. From Infant adoption, to adoption from Foster Care, and trying to conceive naturally all while hitting road block after road block and in came the final blow when they were told IVF was their only option to start a family of their own. Adoption brought its own complications, and unfortunately for reasons we won’t be discussing is not an option they can move on at this time.

After lots of needle pokes, tons of uncomfortable and painful tests it was found out that Mikayla has a left fallopian tube that is damaged and must be removed as well as a right one that is blocked. For easy to understand terms the sperm and the egg are unable to meet. This leaves Mik open to tons of complications if she were to end up pregnant naturally (which is about 10%).

Fortunately age is on their side and IVF is the most effective and successful option for them to start a family but comes an an unreasonably high cost.

Mik and Coleman are the kind of people who will jump to help anyone in a time of need, support them in any way possible and always put themselves on the back burner. They are selfless, kind, and the most caring people. I don’t know anyone that deserves a little more than they do. I’m staring this fundraiser because I know they won’t ask for help and I would love to see them get their dream of starting a family. If you find yourself looking for ways to help them out this is an opportunity to do just that. Please help me help them make their dream come true.
