Making a Miracle

I have always wanted to be a mother. I spent my youth in child care, helping to support other mothers in raising their children. I studied child development, buying books on child rearing as a teenager. I always assumed that when the time was right, I would have children. I wanted 4-5 kids and just knew it would happen. Unfortunately, it never happened. I never married and never had kids. When I started trying on my own, I couldn’t get pregnant. I’ve been going through fertility treatments for five years. Endless lab tests, painful procedures, and surgeries and I’m still trying. I have had four intrauterine inseminations, two surgeries, four egg retrievals, and four embryo transfers. I’ve had three chemical pregnancies and no live births.

I have incredible emotional support from family. I have a father who raised four successful daughters. I have three sisters who are dying to be aunties, and countless friends who are ready to lend a hand. My mom was my biggest cheerleader. She was excited to finally have grandchildren and went with me to many procedures. Sadly, she passed away from cancer in 2024. She will never get to love on my children. My children will never know her.

This year, my youngest sister graciously offered her own eggs to try to make embryos. Unfortunately, because of the last five years trying, I am severely in debt. Insurance pays for nothing fertility related. Not even bloodwork. It costs $10,000 just to retrieve my sister’s eggs and make embryos for me. This doesn’t cover the cost of a sperm donor or travel for my sister and I from opposite states to the clinic.

These days, I spend my time as a mental health therapist working with children. I help people work through grief and trauma while silently mourning my own loss. Please help me reach my goal of becoming a parent. Anything helps.
