Growing Cumbee Cottage 💛

Destiny and I (Kaitlyn) have been married for 2 years and together for almost 9 years. We knew from 3 months in that we would be together forever, and we wanted to create our own little Cumbee Cottage. It has been our dream to be moms; having kids and raising them is something we both feel extremely called to do. About a year ago, we started trying to add a little one to our family. After paying for sperm and two IUIs out of pocket, our fertility fund was zapped. According to our insurance (which we have from our jobs as educators), they are unwilling to cover anything for fertility unless we have been trying for a year. The policy comes with quite a lot of homophobic literature, stating that specifically there must the presence of sperm in order for this to count - meaning we have 2 failed IUIs and 10 more to go before they are willing to cover anything. We have been working our butts off trying to create more income for ourselves; we both work full time, have a small vintage business, Instacart, DoorDash, work extra hours after school and so much more just so we can try to afford to create a being we can bring into this world together. But, as we’ve learned from hours of work and preparation, we certainly cannot do it alone.
